Global Game Jam 2021
2021’s theme was “Lost and Found”, so our team decided to make a two person GPS simulation in Unity. The premise is that The Driver (player 1) is lost in a blizzard and has to drop off ride share passengers around town. The GPS (player 2) attempts to guide The Driver to their destination’s using directional voice commands. We wanted to do a locally networked game with a procedural map this time around which proved to be a fun challenge, especially getting the blocks to match the mini-map. I made the car and it’s interior, the truck, billboards(including the Hotdog!), and the smaller commercial buildings and environment props (trashcans, dumpsters, mail boxes…). We used polygon painting to keep the style consistent and eliminate the need for UV mapping.
Global Game Jam 2018
2018’s theme was “Transmission” so our team made a game in Unity about spreading “Dance Fever” at a night club. I designed, modelled, and textured the bar and it’s overhead sculpture, the tables, chairs, and various signage around the club. We used projection textures where we could to cut down on UV’s, and allow us to spend time on the comical wall lighting features and scary character faces (using stretched images of team members faces). We ended up winning the Concordia TAG labs GGJ 18 trophy for “Funniest and Scariest Game”.
